They're a separate company. Arete Research LLC is not affiliated with Arete Wealth, in any way. No common ownership, management, or partnership. The shared "Arete" name is coincidental and does not mean we're connected.
Don't blur the names. Don't call it "Arete," "our research," or anything implying it's our research department or an affiliate. If you need to reference it internally, use the full name: Arete Research LLC. Never put the two names or logos side by side.
Internal use only. This research is for your own use. It is intended for idea generation, education, and due diligence. Do not forward, email, print, summarize, quote, or show it to any client, prospect, or the public, and don't use it in any marketing, social, or client communication. Sending it out turns it into a public communication under FINRA Rule 2210 and creates real confusion risk given the name overlap.
What's covered vs. what's billed. A quick note on how the arrangement works: our contract includes all TMT written work, on the condition that anything beyond the written research, i.e., live “engagement,” is billed a la carte at a $1,500/hour rate. That includes group calls. The calls Arete Research hosts are invite-only, relatively small client calls; any of you who'd like to join are welcome, and the same $1,500/hour rate applies. If you or the group would prefer to set up separate calls, individually or as a group, they're happy to arrange that a la carte as well.
Bottom line: written research is covered under our arrangement, but any live calls are billable.
You still own your recommendations. Third-party research doesn't satisfy your Reg BI / Rule 2111 reasonable-basis obligation on its own. That’s still on you.
